How to freeze broccoli

I never thought I would freeze broccoli because I never thought I would have too much to eat. But I do , so I did. Who would have thought? After the process the broccoli was a lovely bright green color. I don’t love frozen broccoli so it will be interesting to see if home freezed is any better?

  1. Put on a big pot of water to boil.
  2. Wash broccoli.
  3. Cut stems into 1 inch pieces and cut the florets leaving them large.
  4.  Measure about 5 cups.
  5. Fill sink with cold water.
  6. Dump cut broccoli into boiling water and boil for 4 minutes. 
  7. Take broccoli out of pot with tongs .
  8.  Put hot broccoli in cold water and swish around.
  9. Take broccoli out of water . Mark freezer bag with date .
  10. Drain any excess water off broccoli and put into bag.
  11. Get any excess air out of bag and freeze.
