Harvest moon 2008

I have been trying to plant by the moon these past couple of years. I know that the week after the full moon is the best time to plant root vegetables and to transplant, but what I didn’t know until yesterday is that both the full moon and the new moon are barren days. So instead of planting yesterday, Monday, I waited and planted today, the day after the full moon. I put in 22 broccolis, brussel sprouts, cabbage and cauliflowers. It is still hot in Austin so I will have to watch them carefully which means going every day to the garden.

Broccoli.    Marathon, Calabrese, Watham, and Packman

Cauliflower   Snow crown white and Cheddar-orange

Cabbage  early red express and green vantage

Brussel Sprouts  Oliver
