I just came back from my garden. It is incredibly dry. We haven’t had any significant rain in forever. The spinach, kale, collards, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts , lettuce, parsley and cilantro are all thriving. Plus there are still beets, carrots and turnips in the ground. I am busy planning my next planting. I will put in more carrots, chard, lettuce, kohlrabi, anise, and beets this month and then on Valentine’s Day I will plant my red and white potatoes.

Now I have work to do, cleaning out the garden, digging and spreading compost.

I plant my potatoes on Valentine’s Day, too! And thank you for the tasty-sounding soup recipe in your last post. I’m looking forward to trying it out…
