I just gardened again after being in Mexico for a week. My gardening friends took pretty good care of my garden, but unfortunately I lost 3 red cabbage plants in the back.

The rutabaga seeds are coming up nicely. The spinach looks thin as do the snow peas so I will replant. I planted more beets and turnips, but mostly I weeded and mulched with pine straw and with leaves. After it rains I will transplant some of the bokchoi and the lettuce as they are quite thick. We have not had any rain for too long.

I took down the last of the cucumber vines and the butternut squash vines. I picked some okra and some eggplant that is still thriving. The summer garden is mostly gone now and the fall garden is growing. I picked some radishes and some tender mustard greens for lunch.

It wasn’t too hot, about 80 but after 3 hours I was definitely ready to come home.
