The Japanese ichiban eggplants are prolific. They are deep purple. And I also have Asian eggplants that look like the Ichiban variety but they are white. They too are producing. But my plain old American eggplant have not grown yet. I have them all in 2 foot high cages I made myself from wire. The shorter tomato cages work well too, but I find it best not to let them flop around. Bugs will get to them faster.
